This photo is of the crew of Rhyl Lifeboat (click on photo to enlarge). We know very little about it, we think it’s about 1890 and we have one name: the coxswain (back, centre), Joseph Hughes. If anyone has any more information about this photo or have any other photographs of Rhyl Lifeboat, we’d love to hear from you.
Hello
Joseph Hughes was my great grandfather. He lived in Wood Road with my Great Aunt until the 1960s. The Rhyl lifeboat HQ had a number of very old photographs including one of Joseph Hughes and his sons. My Grandfather, Jack Hughes became Coxswain in the 1920s. One of the extended Hughes family sponsored a lifeboat named after Joseph Hughes – follow this link.

Hello. I believe your grandfather Jack Hughes was a former footballer. He played with Newcastle United, Halifax Town, Bradford City. His real name was William John Hughes, but known throughout his career as Jack. I would love to get in touch.
Thanks very much for providing the link to an interesting article which must make you very proud of your great grandfather, Joseph Hughes.
